Elevated serum cholesterol and triglyceride is well established as a risk factor development of arteriosclerosis and coronary heart disease. A number of clinical studies have shown that reducing elevated levels of serum cholesterol and triglyceride, by drugs or dietary intervention, could lead to reduction in the incidence of coronary-related deaths. The search for new drug with the potential t...

متن کاملEffects of short term beta adrenoreceptor blockade on serum lipids and lipoproteins in patients with hypertension or coronary artery disease.
The effects of beta adrenoceptor blockade with propranolol or pindolol on serum total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), and its subfractions HDL2 and HDL3, serum triglyceride, and Intralipid clearance were studied in 17 normolipidaemic, non-diabetic patients with hypertension or angina pectoris. Both pindolol and propranolol had ...
متن کاملSerum lipids and glucose concentrations in subjects using antihypertensive drugs: Finnmark 1977.
As a side project to a study of coronary risk factors 4878 men and women aged 20-53 were interviewed about present and previous use of antihypertensive drugs. Serum lipid and glucose concentrations were compared in 124 present users, 73 previous users, and 124 controls matched for age, sex, and systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Users of betablockers, thiazides, and other antihypertensive d...
متن کاملParaoxonase 1 Activity, Lipid Profile, and Atherogenic Indexes Status in Coronary Heart Disease
Background: Dyslipidemia is considered an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). In the present study, we examined lipid profiles and paraoxonase 1 (PON1) activity and atherogenic indexes status and the relationship of PON1 activity by high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and atherogenic indexes in CHD patients and healthy people. Methods: The aim of the study was to compare PON...
